Shodo (Japanese calligraphy) is a traditional art form that has long been cherished in Japan and is popular as an extracurricular activity for children. Beyond learning beautiful writing, it helps improve concentration, posture, and brings a sense of calm. In this experience, you’ll be guided through the unique tools of Japanese calligraphy—such as brushes, ink, and inkstones—while practicing yourself.

現在約100名の生徒を持ち、豊富な経験と的確なアドバイスで、初めての方でも安心して学べます。
Your instructor, Yu-ko, holds the highest level certification in Nihon Shuji (Japan Calligraphy Association) and teaches around 100 students. With extensive experience, she offers clear and supportive guidance, making it easy for beginners to enjoy.
自分の作品をお持ち帰りできます（Take Your Artwork Home）
体験では、実際に筆で書いた作品をお持ち帰りいただけます。
色紙、扇子、だるま、風鈴、掛け軸など、いくつかのアイテムからお好きなものを選んで、世界に一つだけの作品を作ります。
During the experience, you can take home a piece of artwork that you create using a traditional brush. Choose your favorite item from several options—such as a shikishi (decorative paper board), folding fan, daruma doll, wind chime, or hanging scroll—and create a one-of-a-kind piece that is uniquely yours.

私と皆さまがお会いできるのは短い時間かもしれませんが、その中で感じた「あなたにふさわしい漢字」をお伝えいたします。
その漢字を実際に作品として書いていただき、記念にお持ち帰りいただけます。
Although the time we spend together may be short, I will share with you a kanji character that I feel truly suits you.
You will then have the chance to write this kanji as your own artwork, and take it home as a memorable keepsake.

教室は福岡のベッドタウンに位置し、博多駅や福岡空港から電車・車ともに約30分とアクセスが便利です。
体験は完全プライベート空間で実施しており、リラックスしながら日本文化を堪能できます。
The classroom is located in a residential area of Fukuoka, about 30 minutes from Hakata Station or Fukuoka Airport by train or car. All experiences are held in a private room, allowing you to relax and immerse yourself in Japanese culture comfortably.
書道体験の流れ（Calligraphy experience flow）
約90分。ご案内に沿って進めるだけで、最後には自分だけの作品が仕上がります。
書道の知識も、道具の準備も必要ありません。手ぶらでお越しください。
The experience takes about 90 minutes. Just follow along, and you will finish with a piece of calligraphy that is entirely your own. No prior knowledge and no preparation are needed — simply come as you are.
ご挨拶のあと、筆・墨・硯・半紙など、書道に使う道具をお見せしながらご紹介します。
一つひとつに意味があり、長い時間をかけて受け継がれてきた道具です。
まずは手に取って、日本の文化に触れるところから始めましょう。
After a warm welcome, we will introduce the tools of Japanese calligraphy — the brush, ink stick, inkstone and paper. Each one carries meaning and a long history. Your experience begins simply by holding them in your hands.
固形の墨を硯で磨り、自分の手で墨をつくります。
墨の香りが静かに広がり、呼吸が整っていく——書道のなかで、もっとも日本らしい時間です。
ここで心を落ち着けてから、筆を持ちます。
You will make your own ink by grinding a solid ink stick on an inkstone. As the scent of the ink slowly fills the room, your breathing settles. Many guests say this quiet moment is the most Japanese part of the whole experience.
筆の持ち方も姿勢も、講師がその場で手を添えてお伝えします。覚えてくる必要はありません。
書く字は、お好きな漢字でも、講師が「あなたにふさわしい」と感じた一字でも構いません。
上手に書くことよりも、一画に心を込めること。それが書道のいちばん大切なところです。
Your instructor will guide your hand directly — how to hold the brush, how to sit, how much pressure to use. There is nothing to learn in advance. You may write a kanji you love, or the one character the instructor feels truly suits you. In shodo, what matters is not writing well, but putting your heart into every stroke.
最後に、色紙・うちわ・扇子・だるま・風鈴・掛け軸のなかからお好きなアイテムを選び、仕上げの一枚を書きます。
世界にひとつだけの作品が、日本の思い出として、そのままあなたと一緒に帰ります。
Finally, choose your favourite item — a shikishi paper board, an uchiwa or sensu fan, a daruma doll, a wind chime or a hanging scroll — and write your final piece on it. A one-of-a-kind artwork goes home with you as a memory of Japan.

対象者（Eligibility）
外国人の方であれば、在住者・旅行者問わず、1名様から最大6名様まで書道体験を受講いただけます。
ただし、完全プライベート空間での実施となるため、人数にかかわらず男性のみでのご参加はお断りしております。
6歳以上のお子様は、1名として参加人数に含まれます。
Both residents and tourists who are foreign nationals are welcome to join our calligraphy experience, from 1 up to 6 participants.
Please note that, as the experience is held in a fully private room, we are unable to accept all-male bookings, regardless of group size. Thank you for your understanding.
Children aged 6 and older are counted as one participant.

- 「相応しい漢字をプレゼントする」とはどういう意味ですか？
What does it mean to present a suitable kanji character? -
体験中、講師が皆さまとお話ししたり雰囲気を感じたりしながら、その方にぴったりだと思う漢字を選びます。その漢字には、意味や想いが込められており、まるで“あなただけのシンボル”のような存在になります。
選んだ漢字はその場でお伝えし、実際に練習や作品制作に使っていただくこともできます。出来上がった作品は記念としてお持ち帰りいただけます。The instructor will choose a kanji character that best represents you, based on your personality and the impression during the session. This special kanji can be practiced and written as your artwork, and you can take it home as a unique souvenir.

基本的な道具はすべてこちらで用意していますので、手ぶらでお越しください。ただし、墨で衣服が汚れる場合がありますので、汚れてもよい服装でお越しください。

What language is the experience conducted in？ -
ご案内は日本語ですが、翻訳アプリを併用しますので、日本語が分からなくても安心してご参加ください。
筆の動かし方は実際にお見せしながらお伝えしますので、言葉が通じなくても体験は問題なく進みます。
The session is guided in Japanese, with a translation app to help us communicate, so you are very welcome even if you do not speak Japanese.
